Countryside High School ISTEM

What is Cyber Security?

Cyber Security is focused on computer and information security. This strand is appropriate for technologically minded individuals who are very comfortable with computers. Students will become familiar with the vocabulary associated with the Cyber Security field, and get some hands on experience with security challenges in the form of online CTFs. These cyber capture the flag competitions exercise the student's computer prowess and tests their security knowledge. Thus far, Countryside High School has participated in CAMS CTF and Pico CTF.

Teacher

Jason Felt

My name is Jason Felt and I head the ISTEM Cybersecurity Strand at Countryside High School. I teach classes such as Introduction to Information Technology, Practical Arts, Computer and Network Security Fundamentals, Cybersecurity Essentials, and Operational Cybersecurity. I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Business Technology Education (6-12) from St. Petersburg College (SPC). I completed my internship at Countryside High School in 2013. This is my fifth year teaching at Countryside High School. I went into teaching to make a difference in the world. I always want to be a positive influence for all of my students. If I can make a positive impact on one student’s life, then my career choice is completely worth it. My dream is for every one of my students to come out of my class with skills that they can use in their lives. I want every single student to be successful in life.
